One person arrested in Estevan for possession of child porn

A 53-year-old man was arrested following a joint investigation involving members of the EPS and the Saskatchewan Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit,

ESTEVAN — One person is facing a charge for possession of child pornography after he was arrested in Estevan.

According to the July 6 news release from the Estevan Police Service, following a joint investigation involving members of the EPS and the Saskatchewan Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit, a 53-year old man was arrested. He was released before a justice of the peace on conditions and will make his first court appearance Aug. 18.

As he has yet to make a first official appearance, his name cannot be released.

During the late afternoon of July 6, patrol members, along with the Drug/Intelligence Unit, executed a search warrant at a residence. As a result, a 30-year old man from Estevan was charged with four counts of possession of weapons dangerous to the public, possession of a firearm while prohibited, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, and two counts of assaulting a police officer. He was held in custody and appeared in Estevan Provincial Court July 7 to speak to the charges. 

Also on July 6, police were asked to conduct a well-小蓝视频 check on a person who called St. Joseph's Hospital and was threatening self-harm. Members attended and spoke with the male. Community services were offered.

The EPS received a report of a male and female fighting in the 1500-block of Second Street. Both parties were spoken to and it was determined that it was a verbal argument. No further police involvement was necessary.

Police attended to a second request for a well-小蓝视频 check. The person was spoken to and found to be safe and well. The complainant was updated.

Police were dispatched to a report of an assault. Through the investigation, a 30-year old woman from Estevan was arrested and charged. She was also found to have warrants from other agencies which were dealt with following her arrest. She was released on conditions of no contact with the victim and will appear in court in several jurisdictions at later dates to speak to the charges and warrant matters.

Police are investigating a criminal harassment file. Statements were obtained and the matter remains under investigation.

EPS members attended to a local hotel for a report of an ongoing criminal harassment. Statements are pending and the matter remains under investigation.

A third report of criminal harassment was received by the EPS. A statement has been obtained and the matter is still under investigation.

Police received a report of children 小蓝视频 left alone in a vehicle in a business parking lot. Members attended, spoke with the parents and advised them of the concern.

Police attended to a residence for a report of an unwanted guest. The person left on their own once EPS members arrived. No further police involvement was necessary.

Police attended to a local park for a report of suspicious people reportedly living in a tent in the area. Members attended and both parties were warned of the city bylaw that makes it an offence to live in a tent in public areas. They were directed to remove their tent and find alternate lodging.

Police attended to a residence in central Estevan for a report of siblings fighting. EPS members were able to mediate the situation and no further police involvement was necessary.

The EPS received a request July 5 to conduct a well-小蓝视频 check on an individual that was no longer responding to family members. Officers made contact and assisted in transporting the individual to the hospital for assessment.

Police conducted several conditions checks on an individual with curfew restrictions during daytime hours. All those checked were located at their approved residences.

EPS members arrested a female motorist for impaired driving after she failed a roadside standardized field sobriety test. She was issued a 120-day driver's licence suspension and a 30-day vehicle impound as she was found to be driving with a passenger under the age of 16 at the time of the offence.

Police attended to the hospital to assist staff with a 37-year old Frobisher man who was causing a disturbance. During interactions with EPS members, the man made threats to another individual and was subsequently arrested and lodged in cells. He was related released with a court date in September to speak to the charge.

The EPS was dispatched to a local business for a report of a recent theft. The suspect vehicle was observed leaving the business’ parking lot and a related traffic stop resulted in the arrest of the three occupants of the vehicle. A 31-year old man from Estevan was charged with theft under $5,000, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public and possession of a firearm while prohibited.  He was remanded and appeared in Estevan Provincial Court on July 7. A 30-year old man from Estevan was also charged with mischief and uttering threats, and will appear in court at a later date. The third occupant was released without charges.

A 36-year old man from Estevan was arrested on an outstanding warrant. He was searched as per his release conditions and members located a quantity of methamphetamine on his person. He was subsequently lodged in cells and remanded to appear in court July 7.

Police were dispatched to a residence in the south end of the city for a noise complaint. The home owner was warned of the bylaw and asked to turn their music down.

Police conducted a curfew check on a 36-year old man during nightshift and he was found not to be home as required by his release conditions.  Charges are pending.

An EPS member conducted a traffic stop with a vehicle on Fourth Avenue. An approved screening device demand was made and the driver provided a sample of breath with a result of a warn, which is above the provincial level of .05 but below the Criminal Code level of .08. The driver was issued a 72-hour driver's licence suspension and the vehicle was impounded.

EPS members arrested a male July 4 following an investigation into an allegation of assault causing injury. He was arrested, processed and released on conditions to have no contact with the victim. He will appear in Estevan Provincial Court at a later date to speak to the charge.

An investigation into shoplifting from a local store has resulted in a male 小蓝视频 arrested and charged with theft. He was released on conditions to not attend the store and will make a future appearance in court to speak to the matter.

Members were dispatched to a local liquor establishment for a report of a male refusing to leave.  As police arrived, the male was observed walking away and no further police involvement was required.

Police attended to a residence for a report of a domestic dispute. Both parties were not co-operative with police during the investigation, however, it was determined that nothing criminal had occurred.

EPS members attended to a local bar as it was reported that a male had entered the premise with his own alcohol and was consuming it. The individual admitted to 小蓝视频 in possession of alcohol, which was seized and destroyed on scene. He was subsequently released without charge and complied when asked to return to his residence.

Police were dispatched to a noise complaint in the Trojan area. A small group was located in a backyard and they were advised of the complaint, however, the noise level was acceptable at the time of police interaction.

EPS members attended to 41 calls for service over the weekend.
