Estevan emergency crews called to vehicle fire

Estevan Police Service members are also investigating a vandalism incident at a local park.

ESTEVAN — Emergency crews in Estevan responded to a vehicle fire south of the city July 1.

The Estevan Fire Rescue Service, the Estevan RCMP and the Estevan Police Service were called to deal the fire near Woodlawn Regional Park's dog park. According to the EPS, the vehicle became stuck and caused a grass fire that ignited the vehicle. The fire was extinguished and the scene was taken over by Estevan RCMP members for investigation as it occurred in their jurisdiction.

In other recent police news, the EPS is investigating a report June 30 of mischief from a local park. The park was damaged by graffiti and the matter is still under investigation. The EPS is seeking assistance from the public to report suspicious activity or any information relating to the damage to city facilities.

That same day, the EPS received a request for a well-小蓝视频 check on an Estevan resident. People were concerned with the individual’s physical and mental health. Members attended along with Estevan EMS, and the individual was transported to St. Joseph's Hospital for assessment.

Police received two separate requests for well-小蓝视频 checks regarding an Estevan female. The initial request was earlier on in the day and the female was connected with resources in the community. Police received a second request later in the day as callers suspected the situation had deteriorated. Members attended and the individual was transport to the hospital for assessment and medical care.

The EPS received a report of excessive noise. Members attended to a local residence and warned the property representative under the bylaw.

Police received a report of an individual walking in the Pleasantdale area of the city with a bloody hand. Members attended, located the individual and determined that he had cut his hand on his bike chain.

Police were called to the hospital for a report of an unruly patient causing a disturbance.  Members attended and remained on scene until the individual was discharged by emergency room staff.

The EPS received a noise complaint regarding a residence south of the Estevan Market Mall. Police attended and spoke with the individuals the who were warned under the bylaw.

Officers received a report of a highly intoxicated female in the Hillcrest area of the city. Members attended, the female was arrested and lodged in cells to be monitored until sober enough to take care of herself.

EPS members were called to the hospital July 1 to assist staff with finding community supports for a medically-discharged patient. Police connected the individual with the on-duty social worker and additional services were provided by the Ministry of Social Services.

Police received a driving complaint regarding an individual “brake checking” another car. The matter is still under investigation.

The EPS received a report of a disturbance at a parking lot in the downtown area. A female reportedly slapped a male and had a verbal argument with him. Members attended and located the individuals but neither party was co-operative or wanted the assistance of police.

A suspicious person was reported to be looking in yards in the Hillcrest area. Members attended, spoke to several residents in the area and ended up receiving a theft complaint. Extensive patrols of the area were conducted but members were unable to locate the individual. The EPS asks the public to be diligent in securing items on accessible properties, and to report suspicious persons as soon as possible for police to have the best chance of locating and identifying the individuals.

Police received a report of a stolen wallet. The matter is still under investigation.

EPS members attended to a downtown area apartment complex to mediate a dispute between tenants of the building.

A report came in of an individual’s online accounts 小蓝视频 hacked, followed by an attempted extortion. The victim suffered no financial loss and was working with service providers and banks to ensure nothing further was compromised. The matter remains under investigation.

Members attended to a residence to mediate a dispute between the property owner and a short-term tenant. The matter was resolved temporarily and consumption of alcohol was a factor in the dispute.

The EPS received a complaint about a vehicle 小蓝视频 driven erratically while coming into Estevan.  Members were unable to immediately locate the vehicle, but sufficient information was provided by the complainant for additional follow-up with the registered owner.
