REGINA — Economic Development Regina (EDR) and 12 other partners are heading to the U.S. next week to bolster relationships between the two countries.
EDR has previously stated that the impact of tariffs could create a nearly $330 million hole in Regina’s GDP for 2025.
"In a difficult trade environment like this, one of the most important actions we can all take is engagement," said Chris Lane, EDR CEO.
EDR and their other partners see the value in trades between Colorado and Saskatchewan. Between the two areas, over $300 million in goods flowed last year.
Mayor Chad Bachynski said, "[The] mission to Denver represents an incredible opportunity to showcase our city’s strengths in agriculture innovation, energy, manufacturing and beyond."
Bachynski also underlined the importance of fostering international trade to invest in Regina’s economy.
Regina has already bolstered its relationship with Colorado, as the Regina to Denver flight launched today, May 15th.
"This new route strengthens Regina’s position as the key gateway to southern Saskatchewan and demonstrates United Airlines’ confidence in Saskatchewan’s future," said James Bogusz, Regina Airport Authority CEO.
The U.S. engagement strategy trip will take place from May 20th to 23rd in Denver.
