Ed, my neighbour next door, would seem to be in a great position as we face the last week of September in beautiful sunshine.

As a new resident to the City of Humboldt, I have moved from the Village of Middle Lake to the seniors' complex called Caleb Village.

As kids, my siblings and I had this thing about giving gifts. Be it birthday or Christmas we'd pack and wrap our presents to each other in the most outlandish way possible.

Dear Editor Call me old-fashioned or even overly conservative, but, as an octogenarian, I can handle that about my rather negative view on the ever-increasing propensity of couples to cohabit without benefit of formally getting married.

Since the races for mayor in both Battleford and North Battleford are over thanks to acclamations for Derek Mahon and Ian Hamilton respectively, I am going to talk about the other campaigns going on elsewhere in the province.

I am tired of reading the News-Optimist about downtown North Battleford and how Carousel Bingo is a detriment to the situation.

Dear Editor The vote on motion 312, which was a motion to study the scientific evidence available to substantiate whether an unborn baby is in fact a human СÀ¶ÊÓƵ, occurred Sept. 26 in Parliament. Sadly, the majority of MPs did not support the motion.

Why do you want to lose weight? I mean, really, why ? Start a list, right now. Write down all the reasons for your desire to lose weight. Some of the reasons may be vain. You want to look better in your wedding dress.

Saskatchewan is growing. Our economy is robust, our population thriving. It is an exciting time to be a Saskatchewan citizen. The pride we feel for our province now serves to attract new residents.

I recently moved from one small Saskatchewan town to another. I've come to appreciate the quiet and the small schools, the friendly neighbours and the pace just a little slower than the city. I really don't mind moving.
