Welcome to the first of 鈥楩ishing Parkland Shorelines鈥� of 2021. Like most of us I remain very much a novice fisherman, loving to fish, but far from an expert.

For the past two weeks this column has delved rather deeply into the classic game of Xiangqi thanks largely to the cooperation of Jim Png the man behind www.xqinenglish.com , and his willingness to talk about the game.

Last night I stood on the shoulder of the highway just a few hundred yards from our home, watching a wildfire threaten our local hospital and care facility. Flames leapt high over trees, higher with each gust of wind. The sky bled.

Well, it鈥檚 springtime in Saskatchewan! After the mixed bag of weather last week, our gardens will be hardy for whatever comes our way! One thing we noticed was how the trees seemed to leaf out almost overnight.

Stick to the plan. Stay the course. Don鈥檛 deviate. There are things to do and places to be. I love making plans, especially when heading out on vacations.

For the first time, I feel like this whole COVID mess might be *this close* to 小蓝视频 in our rearview mirror here in Saskatchewan.

There are Sundays when I sit down to fill this space for another week, roughly the 1500 th - plus such effort, when an idea eludes me.

When you are a fan of a particular sport it is always great, as a journalist, when you get to interview a player from that sport. Such was the case recently when I caught up with Ben LeSage for a chat about rugby.
