City of Moose Jaw begins annual inspection program of bridges

The public is asked to observe posted signage, reduce speed in work zones, and maintain a safe distance from inspection crews. The city asks residents to remain outside of barricades and follow all temporary signage for the safety of everyone.

MOOSE JAW — The City of Moose Jaw advises of an update to the condition surveys and routine bridge inspections currently underway.

These surveys and inspections are part of a standard, proactive maintenance program designed to ensure public safety and the continued integrity of our infrastructure. Condition surveys are conducted on an as-needed basis and inspections are conducted on a three-year cycle. Both are routine, and a precautionary measure that supports infrastructure longevity, safety, and maintenance record-keeping.

The work is taking place at various bridge locations, as shown on the accompanying map, and the work is expected to be complete by May 29, weather permitting. While no bridges will be closed during this period, both vehicle and pedestrian traffic may be restricted throughout the project. Speed limits will be restricted up to 30 km/h during inspections, depending on the site.

Various bridge locations are included in the project and contractors are expected to be on site of the 300 block of Manitoba Street E, from 3rd Avenue NE to Manitoba Expressway, this week as well as the 9th Avenue bridge and 1st Avenue SE bridge next week.

The public is asked to observe posted signage, reduce speed in work zones, and maintain a safe distance from inspection crews. The city asks residents to remain outside of barricades and follow all temporary signage for the safety of everyone. No more #NotoriouslyClose calls.

The city appreciates residents' patience during these inspections.

If you have a concern, please use the ‘Report an Issue’ function on the city’s website or the free city app.
