SHAUNAVON — A new children’s book by Saskatchewan author Melanie Larson is giving young readers a front-row seat to their first CFL game.
The Day I Went to My First Football Game, the fourth instalment in Larson’s Adventures of the Barnyard Boys series, was released May 2. The story follows a group of brothers as they experience the excitement of their first Saskatchewan Roughriders game at Mosaic Stadium.
Complete with green jerseys, roaring crowds and sibling camaraderie, the book captures the magic of football through the eyes of young fans.
“This book is a heartfelt tribute to Saskatchewan, to sibling bonds, and to those unforgettable ‘firsts’ that shape us,” Larson said in a media release. “It’s a story that celebrates sports, community and prairie heart.”
The book, written for ages 4 to 8, combines humour, warmth and prairie pride, and is now available online through and in select libraries and bookstores in Saskatchewan and Alberta.
