Community showed great support for Estevan's 4-H sale

Thirty-nine steers were sold during the July 3 event at the Estevan Exhibition Association grounds.

ESTEVAN — The annual Estevan Rotary 4-H Regional Show and Sale once again had excellent support from the community.

The sale was held July 3 at the Estevan Exhibition Association's grounds. The 39 steers that were available attracted a large crowd. Members of the Steelman, Outram-Madigan, Browning, Crossroads and Benson 4-H clubs participated.

Rowyn Shier from the Steelman club had the grand champion steer. The 1,470-pound red animal sold for $7 per pound to Josh Biggs from Top Torque.

The reserve champion steer was raised by Peyton Adderley, also from the Steelman club. The 1,365-pound animal sold for $5 per pound to Frehlick Farms.

The rest of the steers were sold after the grand and reserve champions.

The day kicked off with judging the cattle entered for this year's show. The 4-H members were evaluated for the strength of their grooming skills, stall maintenance and more. Awards were presented before the sale.

The Steelman club held an achievement day on July 1, while the Outram-Madigan club had a similar event the following day.

More to come.
