REGINA — Saskatchewan’s Highway Hotline was checked more than 60 million times in the past year, setting a new record for the province’s road information service.
Highways Minister David Marit credited the record-breaking numbers to increased winter storm activity.
“Thank you to all drivers who take the time to check the Highway Hotline to make an informed decision before heading out on the road,” Marit said. “Understanding what may be on the road ahead can help you plan safer and more efficient trips, which supports our quality of life and export-based economy.”
From April 2024 to March 2025, the Highway Hotline website logged over 40 million pageviews, while the mobile app recorded more than 20 million views.
In comparison, from April 2023 to March 2024, the service saw a total of 13 million views — 10 million on the website and 3 million via the app — during a milder winter.
The Highway Hotline began over 50 years ago as a telephone service and still provides road condition reports by phone through automated audio updates. The toll-free numbers are 1-888-335-7623 across Canada or 511 within Saskatchewan. The phone line receives about 33,000 calls annually.
Today, the service includes a free mobile app available through Google and Apple app stores and features more than 50 camera locations, viewable online at or through the app.
A popular winter feature, Track My Plow, shows where snowplows have recently cleared snow or treated icy roads.
Drivers are encouraged to use the Highway Hotline year-round at for updates on road closures, construction, weather, ferry crossings, parks, collisions and wildfire-related incidents.
