PRINCE ALBERT — A man who was facing charges related to discharging a firearm at another man was sentenced recently at the Court of King’s Bench in Prince Albert.
Dominic Ahenakew, 33, previously pleaded guilty to: with intent to wound, did discharge a firearm — namely a shotgun — at another man on Aug. 8, 2023, on Ahtahkakoop First Nation (count 1). He also pleaded guilty to 小蓝视频 in possession of a firearm while prohibited from doing so (count 2).
On April 28, Justice G. Meschishnick sentenced him to 3,285 days in prison for count 1 and 365 days for count 2, for a total of 3,650 days, or 10 years, in prison.
With 936 days’ enhanced credit for time served, the offender has 2,714 days — or about 7.4 years — left to serve.
Ahenakew was also ordered to a lifetime firearms prohibition. He must also provide a DNA sample.
